Full Moon in Virgo: Don't be so hard on yourself and go with the flow

Updated: Apr 26

Hiii, free spirit here on Earth for the ride! ;-) It's almost the Full Moon again, which means an article about the vibrations and energies of the Moon, Sun, and planets that can greatly influence you, so you can be prepared and surrender!

This month, the full Moon will be in Virgo on February 24th. As the full Moon illuminates the zodiac sign of Virgo, the Sun stands in opposition in mystical Pisces. Virgo and Pisces, when viewed together, create a dynamic spectrum of energy. Within this spectrum lies a harmonious blending of their most elevated vibrations, where their energies merge. On the outer edges of this spectrum, you'll find their opposite ways of expressing their shadow sides. So, let's delve into the characteristics of both zodiac signs to prepare for what will be illuminated in your life during this time.

The Moon and its cycles

In Astrology, when the Sun is on one side, and the Moon is on the opposite side with Earth in between, we get a full Moon. The Moon reflects sunlight, making it look full to us. On the other hand, during a New Moon, the Sun, Moon, and Earth align differently. The Moon is positioned between the Sun and Earth, preventing it from reflecting light to us. The Moon is in shadow, and we can't see it at all.

As the Moon goes through its phases, it gets brighter. When it reaches the Full Moon, there are no shadows, and the Moon's brightness invites us to pay attention to what's happening.

Symbolically, the Sun represents spirit, and the Moon represents our physical and emotional selves. During a full Moon, it's time to be open, to bring the light and awareness of spirit into your emotional and physical body.

Illuminating things in your life

Energetically, the New Moon is a time of unconscious activity, in the dark shadows. By the Full Moon, your awareness rises, and you receive insights that have been approaching you. This happens as the Moon becomes full. This awareness can give you clarity and awe about what's happening in your life. The Full Moon is not just a one-day event; it lasts at least three days. Being in tune with the Moon during the full phase can be a practice of emotional mastery.

Some people feel more 'heavy' or triggered around this time. Try to be aware of what triggers you. Why is it triggering you? Most of the time it's not even the person itself, but the person is mirroring something that is going on deep inside of you. These feelings are way more significant around the time during the full Moon, because the full Moon is illuminating something that's deep inside of you and needs to be seen.

Why each full Moon is different

All Full Moons share the same basics, but each feels different. This is because each lunar cycle happens with a different set of planetary forces. So, each Full Moon has its unique energy and therefore feeling. Therefore we experience different emotions, cycles, and events throughout our lives. Pay attention to the zodiac sign affecting the Moon and other planetary influences. It's fascinating (for me) how each placement of the Sun, Moon, and the planets relative to Earth has a different effect on us.

Virgo and its characteristics

Virgo is an earth sign, historically represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture, an association that speaks to Virgo’s deep-rooted presence in the material world. Individuals born under this sign are known for their logical, practical, and systematic approach to life. Their innate perfectionism drives them to constantly seek improvement through dedicated practice in various skills. With a keen focus on detail, Virgos excel in analyzing and organizing information, similar to a computer processing data.

Virgo is governed by Mercury, the messenger planet of communication. Although Mercury also rules Gemini, these two signs are radically different: Gemini is about output and expression, whereas Virgo is about input and processing. Comparable to a computer, Virgos are really good at turning chaotic information into structured and coherent ideas. However, while they strive for perfection in all their pursuits, they must remember that constantly chasing after perfection can be destructive when applied to self or others. It's essential for Virgos to recognize that imperfections are not flaws but rather integral aspects of beauty and growth.

Full Moon Virgo vibes

When we align with the shadow sides of Virgo, or in other words the lower frequencies of Virgo's influence, we tend to hold ourselves to impossibly high standards, expecting perfection and believing we must have all the answers. This mindset places a lot of control in our lives. We are in control of many things, although we are not in control of everything. Events may happen that are simply part of life and there’s nothing we can do or not do to prevent them. Life unfolds with its own rhythm, and is part of its natural course, beyond our influence. So enjoy the ride!

Likewise, there are things that we can’t force to happen. There is a subtle balance between how much we can consciously control and how much we need to accept as destiny, what our soul chooses to experience in this lifetime to learn. All of this means that there will be times when we feel we made mistakes, or we didn’t do enough, or we made the wrong decision, or didn’t trust our intuition. When we try to control the outcome of every situation life presents, we undoubtedly fail at times. Because life isn’t meant to be controlled. It’s meant to be lived. Like I said before, we are here for the ride!

And I want to emphasize this again, for you, but also for myself, because I'm a control freak as well, and I can be very hard on myself. Life is not meant to be perfect or follow some schedule that conforms to our efforts. It’s messy and chaotic, but also very beautiful. Life shows us our greatest strengths in our darkest times, and it gives us our greatest gifts in the most unexpected ways.

Life is not meant to be perfect or follow some schedule that conforms to our efforts. It’s messy, and chaotic, but also very beautiful.

Demanding perfection from ourselves creates obstacles to growth and fulfilment. This pursuit often leads to procrastination, indecision, and fear of failure as we strive for mastery in every aspect of life, losing sight of our natural brilliance. Sometimes, we avoid compliments or act like our accomplishments aren't a big deal. We might feel like we don't deserve praise, which makes it hard for us to feel happy about our successes. This feeling can make us doubt ourselves, thinking we're not as good as people say we are. Embracing our imperfections allows us to engage authentically with the world, recognizing that every experience contributes to our growth and that each journey toward success is unique.

During the full Moon, emotions may come to the surface again because they were not felt the first time. This is an opportunity to embrace these feelings, recognizing that perfection is not a prerequisite for love and acceptance. You don't need to be perfect to be loved. Life itself doesn't demand flawlessness, and it's okay not to have all the answers or keep thinking about past decisions.

In the presence of the full Moon in Virgo, there is a chance for healing and forgiveness. Forgiving yourself can be particularly challenging, however, it's a crucial step in releasing suppressed anger and resentment. Holding onto grudges blocks your clarity and prevents you from attracting positive energy. It's like being trapped in a lower state of being, lacking gratitude, love, and empathy. The lowest frequencies are anger, guilt, and shame. So it's very important to get rid of these emotions because they keep you in a lower vibrational energy state.

As you navigate through this lunar phase, consider what forgiveness means for you. Is there someone you need to forgive, including yourself? Remember, forgiveness doesn't necessarily mean welcoming someone back into your life. You can forgive by speaking forgiveness out loud to cut the energetic cord with someone or yourself. Ho'oponopono is a great method for this. It can serve as a personal journey towards inner peace and higher vibrations.

By letting go of the pursuit of perfection, we liberate ourselves from feelings of anger, resentment, and guilt. The full Moon in Virgo encourages us to embrace self-love and acceptance, aligning with our true essence. It's an opportunity to celebrate our uniqueness and share our authentic selves with the world. You are more than okay. You are uniquely you. And you are exactly where you have to be right now. So let go.

Pisces and its vibes

Pisces, a water sign, symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, embodies the duality of fantasy and reality. Ruled by Neptune, Pisces is deeply intuitive and compassionate but can be prone to escapism and illusion. Grounding is essential for Pisces, as they navigate the depths of emotion and creativity. However, these impressionable fish prefer to see things through an optimistic lens, which can sometimes result in overlooking challenges and intensifying unresolved issues over time. Adaptable and empathetic, Pisces thrives in artistic efforts and meaningful connections, offering profound spiritual exploration in relationships.

Let me explain how the Moon and Sun relate to specific zodiac signs: Think of the big Galaxy as divided into different areas, each with its own name. These named areas match what we know as zodiac signs. Your zodiac sign is decided by where the Sun was when you were born. The Moon and Sun have strong influences on us, even though they're opposites of each other. They bring special energies into our lives that make us unique. So when the Moon and Sun are in a particular place in the Galaxy, it brings in a different energy that we can tap into.

The cosmic dance of the full Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Pisces

The cosmic dance between the full Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Pisces unfolds as a profound interplay of energies, forming a portal to the same energy of spirituality, healing, and service.

While the full Moon resides in Virgo and the Sun in opposition in Pisces, an axis of energy is formed, representing a beautiful integration of their highest vibrations where their energies meet. This means that we will feel a harmonious blending of the strengths and characteristics of both signs when their energies come together. However, each sign also has its own challenges or negative aspects, which are represented by the extremes or shadows of the spectrum. This blend of energy offers us the opportunity for shadow work, inviting us to explore the depths of our unconscious patterns and release through forgiveness and healing. The full Moon is illuminating these energies which you will experience as emotions. Emotion = Energy in motion.

Virgo embodies practicality, order, and refinement. Governed by Mercury, it excels in organization and analysis, urging us to confront imperfections and embrace self-love. On the other hand, Pisces, ruled by Neptune, is formless, chaotic and all-encompassing. Pisces teaches us to observe the flow of the universe, surrendering to the unknown and embracing patience.

Where Virgo is worldly and connected to the Earth, Pisces is mystical and connected to infinite space. Pisces sees no distinction between us and another. Pisces teaches us that we are all connected through consciousness. Virgo, however, demands that we stay within the boundaries of space, time, and our bodies. It asks us to define our energy and our world.

Together, Virgo and Pisces present two distinct yet complementary paths to spiritual growth. While Pisces encourages non-reactivity and trust in the universe's flow, Virgo acts, and demands direction within boundaries. The full Moon in Virgo reminds us that while trust and surrender are important, so are direction and guidance. The universe will respond to deadlines and time limits if we state them. We do not have to sit around patiently forever. Virgo teaches us that we can make some reasonable demands. We can ask, for example, to see a sign in the next six months. Our job then becomes to trust that what doesn’t unfold on our timeline may be an opportunity for redirection.

As their energies intertwine, their lower vibrations are revealed as well, including escapism, addiction, and codependency associated with Pisces's lack of boundaries and Virgo's demand for perfection.

In essence, the cosmic dance of the full Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Pisces invites you to embrace both your earthly and spiritual dimensions. Awareness of these lower vibrations allows them to transform into higher states, fostering self-acceptance and inner harmony. Recognizing your unique brilliance and connection to the universe, you are empowered to shine your light and contribute to the collective good.

The influence of other planets during this lunar phase

During the February 2024 full Moon in Virgo, significant aspects are formed with Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter. Positioned in Pisces, the Sun closely aligns with Mercury and Saturn, while the Moon opposes these planets.

Mercury, the ruling planet of Virgo, guides communication and the process of information. Its influence is very pronounced during this full Moon, encouraging deep reflection and tackling challenging questions. However, when opposing the Moon, Mercury might stir confrontational feelings, you may not want to feel. This planet can ask you questions or bring up memories that you find difficult to answer or acknowledge. However, only going within and looking at what is pointed at can bring healing or forgiveness.

Saturn, representing responsibility, joins forces with the Sun and Mercury in Pisces, amplifying your commitments to yourself during this full Moon in Virgo. This alignment emphasizes the importance of committing to personal growth and seeking guidance to overcome obstacles, encouraging you to feel what boundaries you need to protect your well-being, peace, personal goals, and mission

Jupiter means expansion. And Jupiter's expansive energy complements the energy of communication of Mercury and the commitment energy of Saturn during this lunar phase. The full Moon is a reminder that healing requires growth, expansion, and transcending past pain. Embrace your potential and envision the person you aspire to be, shedding fears and self-doubt to fulfill your intentions.

My personal experience with this Full Moon

Pfffff... Where do I begin? I'm feeling incredibly restless. For the past two weeks, I've been dealing with infected wounds around my ankle. Because of my stubborn Capricorn nature, I resisted taking antibiotics, hoping my body would heal on its own. Unfortunately, the humidity, ocean, and sandy roads here prevented the wounds from healing as hoped. So, two days ago, urged by my mom who's visiting me in Gili T, I reluctantly returned to the medical center and got the antibiotics.

Sleeping has been difficult lately. I go to bed early, pushing myself to get enough rest, but I lie awake for hours, lost in my thoughts. I'm overwhelmed by the demands I've placed on myself – managing my business, spending time with my mom, and striving for perfection in everything. But I'm realizing I can't juggle it all, especially while I'm healing.

This full Moon in Virgo is teaching me that I don't always have to pursue perfection and meet the highest standards. It's okay to take a break from my workouts until I'm fully healed. It's a lesson I'm learning the hard way.

So, I've decided to take it easy for a while, focus on my recovery, and simply go with the flow, like Pisces do. I'll cherish this time with my mom in Gili T and Lombok. It's okay if my sleep is disrupted for a week; I'll regain my rhythm eventually. I need to let go of the notion that I must get nine hours of sleep every night. A little less sleep for a week won't hurt. I trust that my sleep patterns will normalize soon! I need to break this vicious cycle of demanding myself to sleep, which results in a lack of sleep. I'm going to forgive myself if I don't sleep enough instead of being mad at myself. The same goes for taking antibiotics. I'm going to forgive myself for needing assistance with the infected wounds instead of expecting my body to handle it alone. I need some help, and that's okay.

This is one of the many reasons why I love writing these articles. They provide me with so many insights! They show me exactly where to look deep inside myself. The full Moon literally sheds its light on what I'm ignoring within myself every month. It's fascinating!

I hope you can also forgive yourself for the things that are going on in your life that you have no control over and be less hard on yourself while striving for perfection.

For now, I'm going to fine-tune my article, publish it online, and enjoy a well-deserved lunch with my mom on this magical little island! Lot's of love from me!

Love it as always! Keep it going, it's helped me so much the last few months just reading this and knowing that there are reasons for the way I'm feeling. This gives me more clarity :)
